The Butterfly Hug

Have the children cross their hands and then place them flat on their chest—Once placed have them lock their thumbs together.

Then have them alternate “flapping” their hands up and down patting on their chest. Next ask them to blow out deep breaths through their mouths as they continue flapping.

The placing of the hands on the chest brings a feeling of security and comfort that kids can do for themselves.
